The mission of the Department is to provide White Plains
with effective, efficient, fire, rescue and environmental
protection services. This mission is to also provide
other necessary emergency services essential to the health,
safety, and well being of the community. These
services include, but are not limited to the delivery of
initial type emergency medical services, extra hazardous
rescues, and the mitigation of man made or natural
disasters.
The fire protection service includes both fire suppression
and prevention, with a strong emphasis on fire prevention
programs addressing:
1) Public Education
2) The inspection of existing facilities, and the
plan review of determination,
including arson
investigation.
It is the specific intent of the Department to provide
support elements: administration, personnel services,
training, communications, apparatus and equipment to
optimize the effectiveness of department personnel and to
provide for the highest possible levels of safety and health
for all members. Department members will be encouraged
and assisted in their potential for professional growth,
development and advancement.
It is the further intent of the Department that its
resources will be available to community citizens in the
equitable manner, consistent with the well being of the
community at large.

capability/operations level.
3. Improve scope, quality and quantity of in
house training programs.
4. Encourage elevation of the education level of
department members.
5. Improve operation and administrative support
system.
